In the meantime I will wait and hope that the team puts Kodi v17.3 in the stretch-backports. I did run Stretch for almost a year before it became stable so if I get desperate to have subtitles I may upgrade to Buster. I suppose I could upgrade the system to Buster but not sure I am ready to do that. In any case, I will just wait and not try something stupid (like installing from Buster). Might take a while or maybe they will just ignore the request. UPDATE: Have not heard back from regarding my request. I did read that the package would have to be in either testing or sid (it's in both) for them to consider the task. I have no idea how long it takes for them to review and approve, or deny, the request. Press the cog icon near the top left corner of the screen. This allows us to download the repository zip file directly on Kodi. I also specified that I am using stretch amd64, although if they do the job they will probably do both amd64 and i386. We’re going to add a link to Asgard’s official source on Narcacist’s repo. LOL! I sent a request to to have Kodi v17.3 added to the stretch-backports. I've loaded it into the OBS and am waiting to see how much smoke comes out.Īs long as it doesn't halt, catch fire, and burn. Stevepusser wrote:No problem-I think I have the stuff added to my ffmpeg-3.3.3 to automatically detect if it's being built on a Jessie or Stretch base, and then apply some different build-depends and build configurations, depending on the answer. So grab Kodi 17.3 quickly before I mess with ffmpeg, or just try it again if you get errors later today. The build fails on Jessie i386 with the default gcc-4.9, due to security hardening options (PIE) Debian adds to the build instructions.Ī new ffmpeg automatically triggers a rebuild of everything in the repo that's built against its libraries, which includes ffmpeg. Though I am considering upgrading ffmpeg in it to 3.3.3 for both Jessie and Stretch today, once I tinker with the build system to automatically recognize when it's building on a Jessie base and use gcc 4.8 for the i386 build only there, otherwise use the native gcc. Step 3: Click on the Add source function. A cautious user would just carefully upgrade single programs-though I'm certain that upgrading everything would not damage your system. Step 1: Navigate to the Settings cogwheel at the top left corner of the Kodi interface. ssert/kodiĪnd be warned that I have many packages in there, so just adding the repo and doing a blanket "apt upgrade" would no doubt upgrade a lot more than Kodi. Or there's the Kodi-17.3 that's in my multimedia backports repo.
